In terms of space, soft-top car tents seem to have an edge. I personally compared them at a self-driving tour equipment store and found that the folding design of soft-top tents resulted in a significantly larger unfolded space than hard-top tents.
Hard-top tents, on the other hand, have relatively fixed dimensions and cannot be adjusted as flexibly as soft-top tents. Furthermore, the lightweight nature of soft-top tents is also worth mentioning.
Due to their foldable top design, they are naturally lighter than hard-top tents. However, it should be noted that soft-top tents are relatively less resistant to impacts; their stability may not be as good as hard-top tents in weather conditions such as sandstorms or small hail.
